Christmas fire safety tips

Last week, we posted some top tips for keeping you and your loved ones safe during the festivities. In case you missed them here are our Christmas countdown tips:

Tip 1

Check the cables on your festive lights, replace if worn and frayed. Never overload your plug sockets.

Tip 3

Never leave burning candles unattended; ensure they’re on a heat resistant surface, and keep the wick trimmed.

Switch your tree and other festive lights off before you go to bed. You can see why by watching this video:

Tip 5

Be careful if using portable electric heaters, keep them away from flammable items e.g. curtains and throws.

Tip 6

Be careful in the kitchen. Don’t leave pans unattended, and remember to turn the hob off when you’ve finished cooking.
